The State's Moral Obligation: End Decay, Pursue Justice

U.S. Capitol

The state has a moral obligation to safeguard the security and prosperity of future generations by enforcing a traditional and morally just society.

That sentence alone will alarm some self-described conservatives, who may even rush to label such thinking as socialist or authoritarian. But in all seriousness, is this not exactly what government is supposed to do? Protect the nuclear family. Create an economic environment where the American Dream is attainable. Secure the border. Stop the moral decay and social rot that has consumed the fabric of the nation. Enforce law and order regardless of left-wing reactionary backlash. And most importantly, preserve the very identity and soul of America and its Christian roots. America has always been a Christian nation, and it will only survive if it remains one.

The era of Ronald Reagan-style conservatism is over. For decades, Republicans who claimed to champion conservatism and who won elections after 1995 conserved nothing. The nuclear family collapsed across multiple generations. Hedonism, nihilism, secularism, and now transhumanism came to dominate intellectual culture and elite academia. Abortion spread unchecked. The middle class shrank. Homeownership declined. The state abandoned its people to fund foreign wars and serve global interests while draining trillions of dollars from American taxpayers. The border remained open for decades, enabling massive demographic change and the beginning of what many now recognize as the Great Replacement. Divorce rates soared. Social trust collapsed.

Republicans held power but refused to use it. Under the banner of limited government, they governed as if governing itself were immoral. They treated state power as something the Left alone was allowed to wield. The result was cultural defeat.

That changed in 2016.

President Trump ushered in an America First populist movement that had been forming for years in response to globalism, mass immigration, and moral collapse. As the Trump era progressed, this movement grew in influence, particularly among younger conservatives who recognized that preserving a nation requires more than rhetoric. It requires action.

The Left did not take over American institutions because they were smarter. They took them over because conservatives allowed it. That reality is now being challenged by the political realignment Trump initiated.

When voters elect leaders, they expect culture to be shaped and morality to be enforced. Critics often respond by saying morality cannot be legislated. But every law is a moral judgment. Laws define what is acceptable and what is not. Used wisely, legislation and state power produce order, stability, and prosperity.

El Salvador provides a clear example. President Nayib Bukele used the full authority of the state to dismantle corruption, crush organized crime, and end decades of rampant violence. In less than six years, El Salvador went from one of the most dangerous countries in the world to one of the safest. Bukele understood that strong families and economic growth are impossible without order. In his worldview, order is the highest civic virtue. Without it, there are no safe communities. Without safe communities, there are no businesses, no jobs, and no path for young people to marry, raise families, and own homes.

Bukele viewed his war on gangs as both a moral and spiritual battle. He also removed LGBT ideology from schools to protect children and preserve the nation’s cultural integrity. Despite constant condemnation from left-wing activists and global institutions, Bukele maintains approval ratings above 80 percent among his people.

America faces its own crisis. It will not be solved by left-wing nihilism or by allowing destructive behavior under the banner of individual freedom. It will be solved through order, morality, and responsible use of state power.

Violent criminals terrorizing cities like Chicago must be crushed. Homeownership must be restored by banning corporations like Blackstone from buying up American homes and by deporting illegal aliens who displace citizens from housing. Marriage and family formation should be incentivized through policies such as marriage loans that convert into grants for families with children. Immigration must be halted through a moratorium and by repealing the Hart-Celler Act of 1965. Gender ideology must be banned from schools, corporations, and public life. H-1B visas that replace American workers must end. Endless foreign wars must stop so taxpayer dollars can rebuild infrastructure, strengthen families, reduce crime, and improve healthcare. America must become healthy again by eliminating toxic food additives and restoring sanity to medicine. Prayer and the Bible must return to American schools.

Conservatives have a moral obligation to leave behind a society capable of spiritual and social growth for future generations. True conservatism is not passivity. It is the active preservation of America’s culture, faith, history, and family structure.

It is time for conservatives to wake up. Conserving nothing is not conservatism. Protecting the nuclear family is not optional. It is the foundation of a nation.
